Beyond Ordinary Travel
A Uganda boat safari delivers wildlife encounters from the water that are impossible to replicate on land. The Kazinga Channel in Queen Elizabeth National Park is Uganda’s most celebrated boat safari destination. This 32km natural waterway connects Lakes George and Edward and supports one of Africa’s highest concentrations of hippos. A Uganda boat safari on the Kazinga Channel drifts past hundreds of hippos wallowing at the surface, massive Nile crocodiles lined up on the banks, and elephant herds wading into the shallows to drink. African fish eagles call overhead while dozens of waterbird species line the reeds. The channel is extremely productive — it is rare to complete a cruise without extraordinary wildlife sightings. The Nile River at Murchison Falls offers a second iconic Uganda boat safari experience. Cruises travel upstream toward the base of Murchison Falls, where the Nile forces its entire volume through a 7-metre gorge in a roaring curtain of white water. En route, hippos, crocodiles, and elephants are regularly sighted along the banks. The Uganda boat safari at Murchison Falls is one of East Africa’s most dramatic and rewarding water-based wildlife experiences.
