Beyond Ordinary Travel
An Ol Pejeta Conservancy safari combines world-class Big Five wildlife with one of Africa’s most inspiring conservation stories. The conservancy covers 90,000 acres (364 square kilometres) on the Laikipia Plateau at the foot of Mount Kenya. It is East Africa’s largest black rhino sanctuary and the only place in the world where the last two northern white rhinos — Najin and Fatu — live under 24-hour armed protection. An Ol Pejeta Conservancy safari offers all of the Big Five in a single destination, along with chimpanzees at the Sweetwaters Chimpanzee Sanctuary — the only chimp sanctuary in Kenya. This makes Ol Pejeta uniquely rare globally. Grevy’s zebra, Jackson’s hartebeest, and endangered African wild dog are also found here. Unlike many national parks, Ol Pejeta permits night drives, walking safaris, and cycling safaris alongside traditional game drives. Views of snow-capped Mount Kenya rise above the acacia-dotted plains. The conservancy ploughs 100% of tourism revenue back into conservation and community development. Ol Pejeta Conservancy safari is accessible by road from Nairobi in approximately 4 hours via Nanyuki, or by a 45-minute flight to Nanyuki Airstrip.
